A working group of DAO members reviews applications, filters incomplete or spam submissions, and shares eligible applications with DAO members for review and voting.

We value complete applications and thoughtful responses. Locality is a key criterion — we prioritize applicants from Austin and the surrounding area, though people who regularly visit may also apply.

We aim to discourage applicants who view the membership NFT as a speculative investment rather than a way to contribute to the community.

The membership NFT was priced at 1 ETH. This cost helps protect the DAO from speculators and ensures applicants have a genuine interest in the community. The NFTs may look different, but they all carry the same value — membership in the DAO.

The Memorial NFT is awarded to an applicant experiencing financial hardship. It honors a valued ATX DAO member who passed away and is granted to one applicant who submits an impressive application but faces financial barriers.

The DAO has around 230 members, and during the last round planned to onboard a maximum of 70 new members.

The majority goes into the treasury to fund DAO initiatives. A smaller portion (up to $10,000) goes to the Membership Round Working Group to cover marketing, operations, onboarding, and IT.
